Applicants Have The Right To:
Know deadlines for application material.
Be treated respectfully by university representatives.
Have their application processed confidentially.
Have their application reviewed fairly and without discrimination.
Receive timely notification of admission decisions.
Know the Nurse Anesthesia Programs previous pass rates on the national certification exam, program costs, and accreditation status.
Applicants Have The Responsibility To:
Submit all application materials by the published deadline, July 1.
Be truthful in answering questions on the application.
Understand the financial requirements and explore options most suited for them.
Be familiar with the roles and responsibilities of a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
Conduct themselves in a professional manner during the application and interview process.
Students Have The Right To:
Be treated with respect and consideration.
Receive graduate-level education from individuals with expertise in anesthesia.
Expect a reasonable time commitment conducive to learning.
Receive timely assistance from all 91勛圖厙 faculty and staff.
Expect reasonable access to faculty and the program director outside of class hours.
Expect program director, faculty, and clinical coordinators to be strong student advocates.
Decline participation in cases for which the student has a moral objection.
Receive appropriate supervision and instruction by certified registered nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists throughout the clinical phase of the program.
Students Have The Responsibility To:
Treat others respectfully.
Maintain integrity and academic honesty.
Be prepared for didactic and clinical activities.
Seek opportunities to develop didactic and clinical knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Follow the policies and procedures set by 91勛圖厙, the Nurse Anesthesia Program, and clinical facilities where assigned.
Provide constructive feedback to improve program outcomes and faculty performance.
Communicate with the program any circumstance that may interfere with student learning or jeopardize patient safety.
Participate in professional organizations.
Participate in clinical rotations as assigned by the clinical director.
Pay tuition and fees within scheduled time frames.
Faculty Have The Right To:
Expect students to be self-motived adult learners.
Expect students will be well prepared for all educational sessions.
Expect students to complete assignments by designated due dates.
Expect students to behave ethically with academic integrity.
Be treated with respect by students.
Be treated with respect and integrity by other faculty, program administrators, and university employees.
Faculty Have The Responsibility To:
Be prepared for educational sessions.
Be available for individual students questions and conferences.
Prepare examinations to measure student understanding and application of core competencies.
Prepare activities to enhance student participation and learning.
Instill in students the importance of lifelong learning and maintaining expertise in their area of study.
Provide constructive feedback to assist the student in reaching program objectives.
Maintain expertise through activities such as ongoing education, clinical practice or teaching, research, consultation with clinical experts, and professional service
Patients Have A Right To:
Know the name and professional credentials of the person providing their anesthesia care.
Kindness, respect, and compassion.
Appropriate anesthesia care regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sexual orientation, gender, marital status, age, disability, or source of payment.
Appropriate assessment and management of pain.
An explanation of anesthesia choices, goals, and risks.
Make informed decisions about their anesthesia care.
Expect that all care, communications, and records will be kept confidential.
Patients Have A Responsibility To:
Provide accurate and complete information relating to their health.
Be considerate of the rights of hospital personal.
Actively participate in their care.
The Nurse Anesthesia Program and UNiversity have the right to:
Expect applicants to provide accurate information in a timely manner.
Expect clinical sites to provide accurate information in a timely manner.
Expect accrediting agencies to communicate essential information in a timely manner.
Expect faculty to be prepared for student instruction.
Expect faculty, staff and students to use program resources efficiently.
Expect faculty, staff and students support the universitys mission statement and act in accordance with the universitys core values.
The Nurse Anesthesia Program and university have the responsibility to:
Provide a safe and comfortable environment for faculty, staff and students.
Create a positive learning environment for students.
Treat students, faculty, and clinical sites with respect.
Use assessment and evaluation information to improve program outcomes.
Provide faculty, staff and students with adequate resources to achieve program objectives.
Provide faculty adequate time for clinical practice, scholarship, professional service and continuing education.
The Clinical Affiliates Have The Right To:
Expect ongoing communication and site visits from program faculty.
Expect students to conduct themselves in a professional manner by following hospital policies and treating the institutions employees and patients with respect.
Expect students to actively participate in the learning process.
Receive regular information needed to carry out educational functions, including: orientation, student learning objectives, program changes, evaluations and standard revisions.
Access to current copies of the Nurse Anesthesia Programs handbook, policies and procedures.
Participate in applicant interview and selection process.
Expect students to have health and liability insurance.
Expect 91勛圖厙 and the Nurse Anesthesia Program to provide assistance and support concerning plans for students performance improvement and disciplinary actions.
Decline or withdraw from educating students who pose threats to patients or personnel, or disrupt the orderly processes of the facility.
The Clinical Affiliates Have The Responsibility To:
Provide a safe environment conducive to learning.
Serve as a student advocate.
Provide educational opportunities and suggestions for improvement in the students professional learning.
Provide appropriate supervision and instruction based on the students clinical knowledge and skill.
Provide accurate and unbiased evaluations of students.
Guide and participate in clinically-related projects conducted by the student.
Communicate with the program any circumstance that may interfere with student learning or jeopardize patient safety.
Provide constructive feedback for program improvement.
Discuss with the clinical director the transfer of a student to another affiliation if the students development appears to be inhibited.
Give consideration to a request from the clinical director to accept transfer of a student from another clinical site.
Provide at employee cost while on duty, special garments such as scrub clothes and a call room when so required.
Periodically review the affiliation agreement between the educational institution and the practicum site to assure compliance with current policies and regulations.
Provide on-site accreditation visitors access to student-related records.
Avoid becoming so dependent on students that departmental needs supersede student needs.
Expect no financial compensation as students and staff share knowledge and time together.
Accrediting Agencies Have a Right To Expect the Nurse Anesthesia Program to:
Adhere to accreditation standards and criteria.
Adhere to its policies and procedures.
Adhere to policies and procedures of the accrediting agency and university.
Provide on-site accreditation visitors access to program files.
Submit accreditation documents and reports in a timely manner.
Represent itself truthfully and accurately.
Accrediting Agencies Have The Responsibility To:
Inform the program of changes in policy and procedure.
Assist the program in complying with accrediting agency requests.
